WE ARE PMP

a theatre program for young people ages 13–19 who have stories to share and things to say.

Groups meet once a week from October-April in Pittsfield or North Adams. Experienced mentors guide each group to develop and perform an original play based on stories and experiences from your life. This is a place to be authentically YOU.

PMP is a program that creates a brave and welcoming space where you can share important ideas and generate exciting theatre that will be performed for your peers.

No prior theatre experience is required- there are no auditions, just sign up and show up. Upon completion of the program participants are paid a stipend of $200.

HOW WE WORK

Your Life

You will meet once a week with a group of your peers after school for 2 hours. During these sessions, your mentors will guide your group through a series of theatre games, exercises and improvisations. PMP helps you to explore material that is important to you.

The Playwright Mentoring Project offers you a brave place to talk about serious issues in your life at home, at school, at work, with friends — all of it kept in the strictest confidence.

Your Story

Your story is important and needs to be heard. What do you want to say? Everyone is unique, and has a story to tell. We want you to tell your story, your way!

Under your mentors' guidance, and through collaboration with your peers, you will help to develop an original play that you will perform for a live audience.

Your Voice

PMP wants your voice to be heard. By sharing your voice, you show others that they are not alone. Use theatre to create the change you want to see in the world.

You will perform at Barrington Stage and take part of our spring school tour and perform for an audience of your peers.
